July & August Photo Album

Oh, man... things move slowly in the desert in the summer heat. Still, work continued on the framing, electrical, and mechanical in the house, and the studio received a roof! Also, we had some friends come out and help put up the construction paper and netting over the window and door frames.

South and West sides of the house. The paper and netting is mostly finished for the earthen plaster to go on. Straw bales take this plaster so well, that they do not need to have netting or lath over them, but by code we are required to have something over the wood framing. Also, we can see the evaporative cooler mounted up on the West side- not an easy thing to do!

Michelle and Bill working.... and working...

Some detail on two nichos. We'll do a plaster inside that will further enhance the charm of the sculptural work Michelle has done on these.

Interior shots of framing and the windows in the kitchen area.

The studio gained a roof - regular galvinized corrugated metal roofing, different from the house because of cost. From under the studio porch, a view of the house.
